
Mission
The Center for Publicly Engaged Scholarship at UCSB is devoted to amplifying the social impact of research across the campus, with a special emphasis on the closely related research in educational equity, carried out in the The Gevirtz Graduate School of Education, and research on the many problems that stem from social inequities.
Vision
The Center focuses both on roots and remedies, and will direct its work toward partnerships with a range of audiences, from activists and civil society organizations, to government agencies, the media, and the private sector. The CPES brings together scholars, community members, and stakeholders to study, discuss, and come up with solutions for major public issues.
Values
The ultimate goals of the Center for Publicly Engaged Scholarship are to support UCSB researchers in partaking in research that makes a difference in the world, to find practical applications for this
research, and to help benefit local communities across the globe in promoting equity, social justice, peace, sustainability,

The work is expected to yield new knowledge that will inform policymakers, activists and the public at large.
